Library Orientation: Interlibrary Loan

Use this guide to learn more about Lightner Library and the services and resources that we offer.

Interlibrary Loan

Lightner Library's Interlibrary Loan  (ILL) service allows our students and faculty to request materials at no charge that Lightner Library does not own.  You can find the ILL link on the library's home page.  First-time users must register to use this online system.  Click on the link, read the instructions, and follow the directions to register.

Just be sure before you request something on ILL that the library does not:

  • Already own the book/resource
  • Have access to the article in print or in a database

If you are not sure how to figure out if the library has access to the book or article, check with a reference librarian who will be glad to help you.

If you have questions about ILL, please contact or call (315) 279-5350.
