Citation Style: MLA: Help with MLA Citation Format

CiteFast is the most accurate citation generator I have used. Click the source type for the source you are trying to cite. Then click "Manual Entry" to fill in the form with the information from your source. If you type in the title with incorrect capitalization, it will warn you. There are little question marks you can hover over to remind you of capitalization rules as well. After you have finished your citation, click "Save." After saving a list of citations, you can export it to a Word document which will create your References page for you.

KnightCite works very similarly to CiteFast, but does not include as many APA guideline reminders about capitalization, etc. It also does not create a References page for you in Microsoft Word.

Using the tools in Microsoft Word to create your citations and references can be useful if you already know APA well, or if you are using another guide to help you format your citations correctly. Microsoft Word does not provide the proper guidance in capitalization, font, headings, or spacing.

You may find citation generators built into other websites and databases such as Proquest or Google Scholar. These work very similarly to the EBSCOhost citation generator described above. Look for a link with the word "Cite." Be ready to double-check the citation to make sure it is correct, especially in regards to font and capitalization.

When you find an article in an EBSCOhost database, you can use the citation tool on the right side while you are viewing the article in the database. It looks like a little yellow sticky note and it says "Cite" when you hover your mouse over it. Make sure to double-check the citation, because it often comes up in the wrong font and will capitalize titles of books and articles incorrectly.
